Does ManyChat work with YouTube?
No. ManyChat does not connect to YouTube, and it cannot read or reply to comments on your videos.
That is the whole answer, and most people arrive here having already half-guessed it. The more useful question is why, because the reason is structural rather than a gap on somebody's roadmap. Once you see it, the workarounds people recommend make a lot more sense, and so does the reason most of them disappoint.
What ManyChat actually covers
ManyChat's own site lists its channels as Instagram, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, TikTok, SMS and email. Checked in August 2026, the word YouTube does not appear on their homepage at all. It is not buried in a pricing tier or gated behind an enterprise plan. The platform is built around messaging apps, and YouTube is not one.
This matters because ManyChat is very good at the thing it does. If you run an Instagram audience and want a comment on a Reel to trigger a DM with your lead magnet, it is the obvious tool and it has been for years. People find their way to this question precisely because that flow worked for them somewhere else and they want it on their channel.
Why the comment-to-DM model does not port
The Instagram flow has two halves. Somebody comments a keyword, and the bot sends them a private message containing the link. The public comment is the trigger. The DM is the delivery.
YouTube has no second half. There is no creator-to-viewer direct message inbox. YouTube shut its private messaging feature down around 2019, and while it began testing an in-app messaging feature again in late 2025, that test is people sharing videos with each other. It is not a channel a creator or a tool can send into.
So a comment-to-DM tool pointed at YouTube would have somewhere to listen and nowhere to deliver. Any product claiming to do it is either replying publicly, which is a different thing, or asking for an email address first, which is also a different thing.
The Zapier route, and what it does not solve
Search this question and you will usually land on Zapier's ManyChat and YouTube integration page first. It is real, and it does something, but read it carefully. It connects the two products to each other. It does not give ManyChat the ability to act inside a YouTube comment thread.
A typical build looks like: YouTube trigger on a new comment, a filter step checking for your keyword, then an action. The action is where it gets awkward. You are paying Zapier per task for every comment it inspects, not just the ones that match, on top of a ManyChat subscription you are now using for none of its actual strengths. There is a second problem that costs more than money. Filter steps are easy to get slightly wrong, and a broad match instead of an exact one produces a run of near-identical public replies across a comment section. That is the pattern YouTube's spam systems are looking for. On Instagram a misfiring bot sends some bad DMs. On YouTube it posts them where the whole audience and the platform can see.
What the YouTube version looks like instead
Because there is no DM, the delivery has to be public. That sounds like a downside and mostly is not. The viewer comments a word you announced in the video, your channel replies publicly with a link, and the link goes to a page you control that holds the resource.
The part worth doing deliberately: put that same page in the video description and the pinned comment. Now the reply is a convenience rather than a gate. Nobody has to comment to get the thing, which keeps you clear of the incentivised-engagement rules, and viewers who never read comments still get it.

Should you keep using ManyChat?
If Instagram or TikTok is where your audience lives, yes. Nothing here is an argument against it. The two tools do not really compete, they cover different platforms, and plenty of creators will end up running both because that is what their distribution looks like.
The mistake is spending a weekend trying to bend one into covering the other. That is the weekend this page is trying to save you.
